When the roofs of New-York will be a field of flowers …
I have already expressed how I feel concern about environmental issues. Being asthmatic has surely raised my awareness to air pollution. Hence my interest has expanded to other areas. Our large cities are definitely hells for human beings. But don’t make a boo-boo I am not talking of getting back to caves and stone age. I just think that things may be done to improve the situation. One example is green roofs.
I mean roof totally or not covered with vegetation. If you want to know more about it you can visit the page on Wikipedia.
The main advantages are for me the fact that it will increase the level of oxygen in the air through photosynthesis. It will also fix pollutants mostly carried by rains. To say nothing about the pleasure to observe an ocean of green while looking at New-York roofs.Of course it is nothing new. In NYC you can observe some but the biggest one will be The Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park in 2008 . But NYC is late compared to Chicago or Washington. Owners of buildings or residents may do think by themselves to change the situation. Just putting more pots with flowers, grass or small trees will fit. But I really think that we may also pressure architects, town planners and politicians to adopt this as a standard for new buildings or renovation projects. Blogging may be a powerful toll for that. So link to this post, create your own one, make comments … but we should do something about that.

I have another question to you. I see you have asthma. I am working on a project to improve asthma control. But for this I would like to know, what it is like to live with asthma like yourself.

How is it like to live with Asthma?
How often do you go to the doctor to monitor your status and adjust medication programs?
what is your biggest dilemma (in dealing with the disease)and why?
